NOLAN CD TOPPING SALES

The Best of Dick Nolan, a CD released since the Newfoundland and Labrador singer's recent death at age 66, is being touted as a local top-seller.

As of Feb. 24, CD Plus in the Avalon Mall ranks it as No. 2, second only to Rex Goudie.  Fred's Records on Duckworth Street says it's in their top 5.  And the Nielsen SoundScan has it at No. 6 for St. John's, up from No. 18.

The CD is the first major collection of Nolan's greatest hits.  It covers material from five of his RCA albums from the 1970s.

Called one of the finest country singers in Canada, Nolan's name is intrinsically linked with Aunt Martha's Sheep, the song that became his biggest hit following its release in 1972.
