ECMA Announces Performers for Dick Nolan Tribute
Multiple Nominees Added to Awards Show Line-Up

(Corner Brook, NL) - The 2009 Dr. Helen Creighton Lifetime Achievement recipient, Dick Nolan, will be honoured by some of Newfoundland's finest traditional and country musicians at the 2009 East Coast Music Awards taking place Sunday, March 1 at the Pepsi Centre in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.

The televised musical tribute will feature the Man of a Thousand Songs himself, Ron Hynes; Brian Byrne, former front man of Canadian rock band I Mother Earth; and the 8-track Favourites, featuring Larry Foley and Patrick Moran (of The Punters), Chris LeDrew (of Brothers in Stereo), and one of Newfoundland's most famous session and side musicians, Sandy Morris.

The Dr. Helen Creighton Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual or group that has had a profound and lasting effect on the Atlantic Canadian music industry and the recipient is chosen each year by the ECMA board of directors. The tribute will feature a number of Dick Nolan's many career highlights presented by some of Newfoundland's greatest performers.

The non-televised portion of the East Coast Music Awards on Sunday, March 1st will include performances by double ECMA nominees Vishtèn (Group Recording and Roots/Traditional Group Recording); Cape Breton's Carmen Townsend; Teresa Ennis, nominated for Folk Recording of the Year; and double nominee Chad Hatcher, for Galaxie Rising Star Recording of the Year and Video of the Year.

The East Coast Music Awards return to CBC and fans of East Coast Music can catch the star-studded spectacular live at 8:30pm NT/8pm AT/7pm ET on CBC's digital channel bold or on-line at The main CBC Television network will broadcast the East Coast Music Awards at 11pm in all times zones/11:30pm NT.

The Fan's Choice Award is the only East Coast Music Award voted on by the public, and fans have until Friday, February 27th at midnight (AT) to cast their vote. Cast your vote online at or Please note that only one vote per computer will be tabulated.

The 2009 East Coast Music Awards, Festival & Conference will take place in Corner Brook from February 26-March 1 and is an annual event organized by the East Coast Music Association. The ECMA is a not-for-profit organization whose mandate it is to foster, promote and celebrate East Coast music locally and globally.
