SONG TITLE - ALBUM

1. The Album "On Stage At the Drake" features Dick Nolan as leader of the Blue Valley Boys. He sings vocals on "Burning Bridges", "Tennessee Flattop Box", and "Donna On My Mind". On the remaining songs, it appears that he plays rhythm guitar although he is not credited in the liner notes. The song "Burning Bridges" is incorrectly listed as "Running Bridges" on the liner notes.

2. The abbreviation "v" refers to the version of the recording.   For example "Apple Blossom Time In Annapolis Valley, v1" means version 1.

3. The cassette tape version of AMy East Coast@ contains the same song titles as the vinyl lp AWelcome Aboard@. The compact disc version of AMy East Coast@ contains those titles plus additional titles.

4. The version of "Aunt Martha's Sheep" which appears on "Original Newfoundland Gold" is missing the original verse two which begins "Now if you pay attention, I know I'll make you laugh..."

5. The Albums "Home of the Blues" released by Olympic Records and "Dick Nolan Sings" released on the London label are identical in content.

6. The exact title of the compilation album Arc Country is unknown. Dick's two songs on the album, "Goodbye Little Darling" and "You Tell Me and I'll Tell You" were his first two recordings.

7. The song "I'se the B'y" is credited to Roy Payne & Dick Nolan on the cassette tape "Newfoundland Saturday Night" and the CD "Side By Each". The same song originally appeared on the vinyl album "Side By Each" but is credited to Dick Nolan only. It appears that Dick does the vocals and the credit to Roy Payne may be an error.

8. The title AIsland of Newfoundland@ was composed by Burt Cuff. That is the title used on the album AI=se the B=y What Catches Da Fish@. A different version of the same song appears on ADick Nolan=s Greatest Hits of Newfoundland@ and APretty Girls of Newfoundland@ with the title AIsle of Newfoundland@. This is confusing since the AIsle of Newfoundland@ also appears on AFisherman=s Boy@ and ACountry@ sung by Marlene Beaudry but the song is entirely different and was composed by Tex Shaw. For this song list, AIsland of Newfoundland@ is the Cuff composition; AIsle of Newfoundland@ is the Shaw composition.

9. Dick sings on two songs on the vinyl album "Your Little Deeds of Kindness" by his daughter Bonnie Lou Nolan. His name is not mentioned on the liner notes for the album.

10. The titles ANewfoundlanders Lament@ and ARyans and the Pittmans@ are different titles for the same song.

11. On the version of APiece of Bologna@ which appears on the cassette tape AMore@, Dick apparently forgets to sing verse two which begins Anow one guy said I must admit there is no use in carving ...@. He compensates by tacking the verse on at the end of the song to accompaniment of acoustic guitar only (no bass, drums, or accordion), quite amusing. The same version appears on the CD AMy East Coast@ with verse two missing but without the compensation!

12. It has not been confirmed whether the Arc 1235 single containing "Psycho" was ever released. The song contained controversial lyrics and may have been banned. It did not appear on any of Dick's albums.

13. "Best of Dick Nolan (RCA)" is the long playing vinyl album - RCA (Pure Gold Series) KNL1-7062 which was released in 1977.  "The Best of Dick Nolan (SONY BMG)" is the compact disc - SONY BMG, 82876-78296-2 which was released in 2006 and contains tracks which were remastered from the original vinyl masters. 

14. The version of "Aunt Martha's Sheep" which  appears on the 45 RPM single (RCA 75-1098) was recorded a few months after the version which appears on the album "Fisherman's Boy".  The single was recorded in Halifax apparently during the recording session for "Home Again This Year" and uses different musicians than were used on the "Fisherman's Boy" version which was recorded in St. John's, NL.  The arrangement of the songs is the same but an electric guitar was added to the single version.  The single version also appears on the SONY BMG compact disk "The Best of Dick Nolan".

15. "It's 1977 in Newfoundland" is an extended play 45 rpm 7" vinyl record.  The versions of the four songs on this record are different from previously recorded versions.  It also includes a promo for the 1977 Summer Gamers read by Dick Nolan.  It appears the record had limited distribution, perhaps to radio stations and the like.  It was produced by Jack Feeney.

16. Dick sings harmony on one song from Marlene Beaudry's album "Woman is Boss", Arc AS 812.  He is not credited on the liner notes.
